Hey, hey–The Monkees are releasing a Christmas album!

Rolling Stone announced today that the iconic music group is set to make their first holiday album, Christmas Party, and it’s set to release on October 12th.

Christmas Party will include new songs written by Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo (“What Would Santa Do”) and Andy Partridge of XTC (“Unwrap You At Christmas”); Scott McCaughey of The Minus 5 and R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck wrote the title track–they also play on a cover of Big Star’s “Jesus Christ”. The album is produced by Fountain of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger.

Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, surviving members of the band, lend their vocals to the record–but, you can also expect to hear vintage recordings of the late Davy Jones on “Silver Bells” and “Mele Kalikimaka”.
