As you know, this is a year-round Christmas site and while I love watching all of the festive movies that premiere on Hallmark throughout the year, my focus are the Christmas season films. That being said, after January 6th’s ‘Little Christmas’ celebration, my holiday mood does not diminish and, for me, there’s no better way to beat the post-holiday blues than to watch some wintry love stories during Hallmark Channel’s Winterfest programming event!
For some reason, despite the lack of holiday focus, these movies still keep me so festive — the power of a winter wonderland — and that’s why I want to share the lineup US Weekly debuted today to showcase all of the wintry bliss coming to the network in January 2020.
A lot of your network favorites will be returning, including: Jill Wagner, Rukiya Bernard, Tyler Hynes, Chad Michael Murray and Victor Webster. Holiday For Heroes star Patti Murin will also join her real-life husband Colin Donnell in Love on Iceland!
Additionally, I saw on their website that Hallmark Channel will air a Winterfest Preview Special just before the year is out, which is set to be posted by Lacey Chabert and Ryan Paevey!
Check out the list of movies you’ll be snuggling up to watch with a cozy blanket and a cup of cocoa!
2020 Winterfest Preview Special – Saturday, December 28 at 8 p.m./7c
Hosts: Lacey Chabert and Ryan Paevey
During a special encore presentation of “Christmas in Rome”, Hallmark will give us a first look at the upcoming Winterfest original movies for 2020 hosted by Lacey Chabert and Ryan Paevey.
Winter in Vail – January 4
Starring: Lacey Chabert and Tyler Hynes
Los Angeles event coordinator Chelsea (Chabert) learns that her estranged uncle has recently passed away and left her a chalet in Vail, Colorado. After being passed up for a promotion at work, she heads to Vail and find that the chalet is in the midst of being renovated by Owen (Hynes), a contractor who new her uncle. She quickly begins making friends (and maybe more!) in town — before she hears from her boss and is offered a job she’s always wanted. Chelsea starts to fall for Owen, her old boss reaches out and offers her a promotion.
Love in Winterland – January 11
Starring: Italia Ricci, Chad Michael Murray and Jack Turner
Luxury hotel manager Ally (Ricci) makes it to the finals on a dating show; however, even the last date is a hometown date, she finds herself reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend (Murray), while still crushing on the bachelor. Plus, her ex owns the inn the production is staying at.
*Note: This movie was previously slated for Countdown to Christmas 2019 as Alice in Christmasland before changing to Alice in Winterland and Winter Inn Love for Winterfest, both working titles.
Love on Iceland – January 18
Starring: Colin Donnell, Kaitlin Doubleday and Patti Murin
Searching for a fresh podcast idea for work, Chloe heads on a spontaneous trip to Iceland with her college friends. She doesn’t expect to run into her ex, Charlie, but what starts as begrudgingly spending more time together, results in new beginnings for them both.
Amazing Winter Romance (Working Title) – January 20
Starring: Jessy Schram and Marshall Williams
When jaded journalist Julia (Schram) is sent home on non-negotiable leave, her childhood friend (Williams) — who is the one who always held her in his heart, has built a giant snow maze which prompts Julia to find her way to true love.
Hearts of Winter – January 25 — (previously: A Tidy Romance)
Starring: Jill Wagner, Victor Webster and Rukiya Bernard
Local Denver interior designer Bethany (Wagner) is all about creative visualization and is excited to remodel one lucky winner’s home. However, when a young girl submits her widowed father (Webster) and he wins, he’s unsure how he feels about a stranger coming in and redecorating their house. Bethany and Grant spend a lot of time together and quickly realize this is much more than just another job.
*Note: This will be the second Hallmark movie that pairs Wagner and Webster! They previously starred together in the 2017 Fall Harvest film, A Harvest Wedding.
One Winter Wedding* – TBD
Starring: Taylor Cole, Jack Turner, Rukiya Bernard and Dewshane Williams
Cara (Cole) and Ben (Turner) return for their nuptials in this follow up to 2019’s One Winter Proposal and, the film that started it all, 2018’s One Winter Weekend.
*Note: The script is still being worked on for this third installment in the ‘One Winter’ saga, so I imagine we won’t see it until Winterfest 2021 — unless they change it to fit the June Weddings 2020 lineup.
This post will continue to be updated. Which movie are you most excited to watch?!
Stay merry!
I would love to see Ryan and Lacey in a movie together!! Both are great.
That would be AMAZING!
Would love to see Joe Lando in your movies- he was in Perfectly Prudence with Jane Seymour – he would a great addition you the Hallmark Channels and Movies and Mysteries.
Please seek him out.
A devoted Hallmark fan
Would love to see Joe Lando too. Great actor, great charisma
When will Thomas Beaudoin be cast again in some Hallmark movies.?
He was so good in Love on the Slopes last season with his cute costar.
He also plays well with Jen Lilley, he
Played a ghost in The Spirit of Christmas. It was on Lifetime but a sequel could follow on Hallmark.
I see many of your actors also on there Christmas movies.
Cast him with Jen Lilley again, he’s a
talented actor and easy on the eyes.
Hallmark PLEASE give us a break!!! Bad enough you started in October this year now you’re showing movies in January and on. I was so bummed out this due to Hallmark overload. I used look forward to starting Thanksgiving watching but after this year I can’t wait for this mind numbing marathon is over. These movies have no substance- someone comes to town to close local businesses and girl /boy falls in love and the town is saved.EVERY MOVIE IS THE SAME. Get new writers. I’m removing Hallmark from my channels. Sorry
I’m not Hallmark – I just write about their Christmas movies because this is a Christmas website. That being said, it doesn’t matter if it’s a Christmas movie…those plotlines are used for Valentine’s Day, Spring Fever, Summer Nights, etc, movies too. I’m confused — if they’re so mind-numbing to you, why does it bother you at all when the Christmas movies air? It seems like you dislike their stories in general.
That being said. Winterfest movies (non-Christmas) begin January 4th because that’s usually when people start back with regular programming after the holidays. It’s also good for people celebrating ‘Little Christmas’ on January 6th, or simply still on holiday break. Hallmark doesn’t really observe Halloween, so that’s why they start the end of October — they’ve also grown in their programming and there’s literally no way for them to premiere more than 10 movies between the weekends of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. It was their 10th Anniversary, they had 40 new movies spanning two networks – they needed the days to premiere and rotate for those who missed premiere nights – in addition to their past favorites. In the coming year I think it will only be a Christmas movie one day out of the week. It’s 2 hours out of a week.
If you enjoy watching Hallmark Christmas movies between Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, then they’re there for you. If you don’t the rest of the days, watch another channel. They don’t last forever. It’ll be okay.
Merry Christmas! #StayMerry 🙂
What winter movie is Ryan in???
What winter movie is Ryan in??? I would love to see him paired with Brooke Burns.
I was a little worn out from Christmas In July then Oct.-Dec. I am a loyal fan of Hallmark Movies but this was too much. If you’re gonna start early in Oct. show the older movies on all the channels then the new Christmas movies from the week of Thanksgiving thru two weeks into Jan. Then kick off Winter Love thru end of February.
I mean, I absolutely respect your views and how one can get burned out on one thing — I’m sure there are people who feel that way about the season in general. I’m not one of them, lol, but I do understand that. I’m just saying that there are other channels too and I don’t really understand why people get so deeply angry at it. It’s only TV. I mean, it’s nice for me because I have television shows airing new episodes during October – Christmas week, so I’ll watch that and then I’ll put on Hallmark when I want to watch Christmas and turn it off when I don’t. Also, I can get my fill of Hallmark Christmas until the rest of the networks catch up after Thanksgiving and then I rotate between Freeform, Lifetime, AMC, Netflix, Disney+ etc, and other networks airing Christmas movies with Hallmark. I don’t have Hallmark on 24/7, so I don’t feel the burnout… But, as for that suggestion, while it could be ideal for many…Hallmark had about 40 movies to premiere between Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries this season – there was literally no way to get those all premiered for their 10th Anniversary and have the new movies repeat more than once to accommodate all between Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. People would also complain about them being on two weeks into Jan. They need time for movie promotion, airing and rotating. They had the first premiere on October 25th. I don’t know what else to say other than to, respectfully, watch something else when you’re feeling the burnout. That might help – I don’t know. I wish you the happiest new year. 🙂
I love hallmark movie’s I’m trying to find 2 movies the. Daughter father want to close down a Christmas logdeing
I believe you’re thinking of Candace Cameron Bure and Alan Thicke in 2013’s “Let It Snow”. Another movie may be slipping my mind…we love our Hallmark movies, but there are definitely some similar storylines lol.
I absolutely love hallmark Christmas shows. I see in Jan they are putting the Christmas shows on at 10pm. Will this continue through the whole year Like it did in 2019? I hope that it does. I think hallmark should have a channel that just plays Christmas movies year round. I hope they continue them through the year, yay to winter fest. I’m excited.
I’d just LOVE to see more diversity in Hallmark’s movie lineup. Where are the Black, Latino, Asian, etc. movie stars? There are soooo many talented “other” race actors and actresses in your business. Hallmark tends to cast not so good looking, dowdy, sub-actresses who are always the side-kick! I love seeing people who I can relate to in starring roles. While I love a good Hallmark movie….I need a break often from the Chaubert typecast leading men and women. Hallmark has dropped the ball. Your movies do not reflect our REAL WORLD CULTURE in AMERICA which has always been and always will be great, I’d love to see that reflected in the TV channels I pay for. We fall in love. We have romance. We have drama. And we marry, hurt, and rear children. BET can’t do it all. PLEASE UPGRADE TO DIVERSITY! I watched Lifetime 2019 holiday movies! Diverse movies, relatable across racial lines. Catch up Hallmark!!!
They are making progress, but they could certainly make more at this point. I don’t want to knock them for growth, because every bit of growth has a first step. It may have been long overdue, but we got 4 black-led Christmas movies in 2018. I was disappointed that the number dwindled for the Christmas movies in 2019, but there was one during spring and this year we’re getting another black-led movie for spring. We’ve also had Carlos PenaVega, Alexa PenaVega and Emeraude Toubia among another latinx actors, so I hope that number increases too. I look forward to the day where the network has a solid mix of white, black, Latinx and Asian-led films. I have faith that we’ll see it soon enough. That is not to say I don’t love the actors currently leading movies, including Lacey Chabert, because I definitely do – but where there’s a will for diversity, there’s a way. 🙂 #StayMerry!
I love Hallmark! It’s an excellent opportunity to get away from the dreary news, outlandish reality shows and boring TV comedies that the network s continue to push. Maybe it’s not for everyone but it’s wonderful to have viewing options all year around!
