As we get closer to Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year’s Eve, I imagine many of us would like a festive manicure to add extra cheer to our days — or to help us get party ready.
I think you might be able to find your next holiday shade thanks to the new Essie Winter 2019 ‘Let It Bow’ Collection, which features 6 glittering colors that will have you running to your nearest beauty or drugstore to scoop them up.
In collaboration with The Fashion Court, check out the swatch review below to get a better look at what to expect from the collection as well details on the shades and formula.
Enjoy & Stay Merry!
Tied & Blue – This bold sapphire blue is just beautiful! I probably won’t get much use out of this prior to Christmas, but this is definitely going to be my January polish. This is the best kind of winter blues, for me. However, if you celebrate Hanukkah, this is the shade you need – trust me.
Under Wraps- A sparkling pine green and I LOVE IT! Seriously, this is a perfect and festive shade…I simply can not get enough of it. It gives off the vibe of a Christmas tree glittering with multicolored lights…and who doesn’t love that?
Let It Bow – The collection titled polish is a cool snowy, winter white. This is the only one that gave me a little trouble during application as it was a bit thicker than the others and would lift when applying the second coat. It wasn’t easy to get on, but it’s still beautiful.
Knotty Or Nice – Because every holiday line needs a gorgeous red, this bright, blue-toned red glitter perfectly rounds out the entire collection!
Making Spirits Bright – I love to wear a metallic right after Christmas, I just simply can’t turn off my festive feeling, so I’m definitely digging this cool toned silver glitter, which really does shine bright.
Caught On Tape – When I first saw this color in the keyart for the collection, I thought it was going to be more of an orange-tinged gold (you know, that Thanksgiving gold!), but it’s actually yellow gold.
This gorgeous shade reminds me of the gold Christmas package bows! I’m in love.
VERDICT: The only downside is that the formula isn’t as great as I’d hoped. They apply great, however once dry they feel almost textured because of all the iridescent glitter they’re jam packed with. Some of the glitter also seems to sink back into the polish, which isn’t that great of a look. However, both issues are easily fixed with a little glossy top coat! My favorite picks would have to be Tied & Blue, Under Wraps and Caught on Tape.
