With yet another successful holiday season at Netflix under her belt, it seems that Vanessa Hudgens is already hard at work at the merry third installment of The Princess Switch trilogy for the streaming service. The actress, who stars in triple roles in the Christmas-themed series, posted an Instagram story update of her on set in Scotland (see bottom of the post)!
The Princess Switch first film tells the story of Lady Margaret — a duchess who switches places with an ordinary Chicago woman named Stacy De Novo, who looks exactly like her, one week before Christmas — and they both fall in love with each other’s significant others. In the sequel, The Princess Switch: Switched Again, we pick back up where their storyline left off and we’re also introduced to a third lookalike, Fiona.
Not much is known about the plot for the third movie just yet, and if you haven’t watched the sequel yet (currently streaming on Netflix) then I won’t spoil it now, but I imagine the end of the movie will play a heavy part in the next chapter of the royal story.
When will it be released? There isn’t a release date yet, but Netflix will probably follow the same timeline as the previous releases by debuting The Princess Switch 3 in November 2021!
I’ll keep you posted.

(Update: 4/15/21) – The plot has been released as well as the names of some additional cast members! According to Deadline, Will Kemp, Amanda Donohoe and Remy Hii will also star in the Netflix holiday hit rom-com.
Synopsis: When a priceless relic is stolen, Queen Margaret and Princess Stacy (Hudgens in dual roles) enlist the help of Margaret’s audacious look-alike cousin Fiona (also Hudgens) again who teams with a dashing, mysterious man from her past to retrieve it, rekindling the sparks of a tantalizing Christmas romance and resulting in a very unexpected switch.
Kemp plays Hunter Cunard, a suave and sophisticated international hotelier, with a particular interest in acquiring valuable antiques and rare artifacts.
Stay merry!
