We’ve been hearing about a double Christmas movie starring real-life sisters (and Hallmark faves!) Ashley Williams (“Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater”) and Kimberly Williams-Paisley (“Darrow Mysteries,” Father of the Bride) since, at least 2018, and now it’s officially in the works with air-dates set for this holiday season!

Crown Media announced today that the sisters have teamed up to executive produce two all-new original holiday movies movies, “Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday” and “Sister Swap: Christmas in the City,“ premiering this year during the annual (and iconic) Countdown to Christmas programming event on Hallmark Channel.

In the movies, Jennifer (Williams-Paisley) and Meg Swift (Williams) are sisters who couldn’t be closer despite living hours apart. Jennifer is in Salt Lake City, running a successful restaurant she started with her late husband and raising her teenaged son Simon (Jacob Buster, “Christmas Wonderland,” “Ballers”). Meg stayed in their hometown of Hazelwood, helping their parents run the local bakery. This Christmas is the family’s first since the passing of Uncle Dave (Kevin Nealon, “Man with a Plan,” “Weeds”) who owned the town’s beloved theater, The Madison, where many memories were made over the years.

Countdown to Christmas viewers who fell in love with the movie, “Christmas in Evergreen” when it premiered last year on the Hallmark Channel will be happy to know that a sequel is in the works—and it’s premiering this year!

“Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa” is set to debut during the networks holiday programming this holiday season, and several of the stars of the first film will be back–including: Ashley Williams, Holly Robinson Peete, and Barbara Niven as well as new faces Jill Wagner and Mark Deklin.

Country Living reports that the sequel will take us back to the fictional small town of Evergreen as we follow Lisa (Jill Wagner), who is busy repairing the community’s abandoned General Store ahead of the holidays. With a little help from the rest of the townspeople, she’ll deliver a special, lost letter to the North Pole while trying to restore the Christmas spirit in her Vermont village. The inspiration of Evergreen, Vermont is based on Hallmark artist Geoff Greenleaf‘s Christmas illustrations.

Candace Cameron Bure returned to Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas for her ninth holiday film with the network…and she played dual roles! That’s right, she starred in the new original film “Switched For Christmas” as estranged twin sisters, Kate Lockhart and Chris Dixon, who swap places to organize Christmas events and see how the other half lives for a few days which might just strengthened their bond that dwindled when their mother passed a year prior.

It was a cute movie filled with holiday cheer, family bonding, romance, and a lot of great clothes!
