Freeform is upping their holiday game this year! The network, formerly known as ABC Family, announced at their Upfront 2018 Presentation in NYC this morning that it has expanded their ‘holiday dominance with over 1000 hours of themed programming’.
In addition to increasing their annual “13 Nights of Halloween” to a full-month of spooky favorites with “31 Nights of Halloween”, they have also changed the “Countdown To The ’25 Days Of Christmas'” block of movies to November’s “Kick Off to Christmas.“
All of this leads to the iconic “25 Days of Christmas”, which returns to the entire Disney|ABC Television on December 1st, making it the only major media network to offer a unified holiday programming initiative. Two Freeform original holiday films, “Life Size 2” and “Sleeping Together,” will also be part of the holiday lineup. Check out the synopsis’s below!
(Updated: 07/20/2018)
“Life Size 2”: Tyra Banks, who will also executive produce, reprises her iconic role as a doll that comes to life; but in the sequel, Eve has grown up. This time she’s magically awakened to help a young woman (Francia Raisa) learn to live and love again. Along the way, Eve experiences the ups and downs of real life in an edgy, fun, modern Christmas movie.
“No Sleep ‘Til Christmas” (previously titled “Sleeping Together): An unexpected and whimsical holiday rom-com about two insomniac strangers (Dave and Odette Annable) plagued by exhaustion. After a brief meeting, they discover that they can only fall asleep if they are sleeping next to each other. What seems like an odd coincidence, and frankly a disruption to their lives, might be more meaningful than they’d like to admit.
“The Truth About Christmas”: Jillian (Kali Hawk), a successful political consultant, confident in her ability to put a spin on anything whose next big project is the upcoming mayoral campaign for her boyfriend, George (Damon Dayoub, Freeform’s “Stitchers”). On the way to meet George’s family for the first time during the holidays, an unusual confrontation with a toy store Santa results in a drastic change in Jillian where she can’t stop herself from wildly spilling the truth. Ali Ghandour (Freeform’s “Alone Together”) costars as George’s brother Blake, who believes you should always be true to yourself but thinks Jillian just might be losing it. Jillian must find a way to make it stop before her holidays, her job and her relationship are ruined.
With this announcement came the introduction of Freeform Santa, played by “Shadowhunters” star Isaiah Mustafa. Watch the video of him breaking down the new slate of Freeform Holiday TV in the video below!
Stay merry!
