Earlier this month, BroadwayWorld.com announced the possibility that an adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens’ tale, “A Christmas Carol”, would be coming to the Broadway stage this holiday season — and now, it’s official!
Tom Smedes Productions and ShowTown Productions will bring playwright Jack Thorne‘s re-imagined version of the Christmas story to life while Campbell Scott (“House of Cards”) will step into the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Matthew Warchus is set to direct with music and arrangements by Tony Award nominee Christopher Nightingale.
“A Christmas Carol” previews begin on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street), and opening night will be Wednesday, November 20th. As this will be a limited 8-week holiday engagement, the show will only run through Sunday, January 5, 2020.
The show previously had a run at The Old Vic theatre in London, England.
Stay merry!
