Louisiana’s largest daily newspaper, The Advocate, recently announced that production had begun in New Iberia for an upcoming Lifetime holiday movie, tentatively titled “Christmas on the River”. The festive flick will star former “One Tree Hill” star-turned-Country singer, Jana Kramer and Percy Daggs III from “Veronica Mars”.

Kramer’s character returns home to New Iberia for Christmas and attends the 50th annual Christmas Sugarcane Festival, where a young woman and man are traditionally crowned ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the event each year. For the milestone anniversary, all former ‘royalty’ return to celebrate — including Kramer and Daggs’ characters, which launches a holiday love story.

The movie is set to premiere during the It’s A Wonderful Lifetime holiday programming event, which kicks off on October 25th.

Kramer previously starred in 2012’s “Christmas in Mississippi” for the network.
