‘Tis the season to ‘Netflix and Cheer’, because the holiday 2020 lineup for the streaming service is here! First up for the Here for the Holidays event, which kicks off this month, is “Holidate” starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey, followed by “Operation Christmas Drop” with Kat Graham and Alexander Ludwig; the musical events with all-star casts “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square” and “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey”, and the highly anticipated sequels: “The Christmas Chronicles 2” (Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn return as Mr. and Mrs. Claus!) and “The Princess Switch: Switched Again” starring Vanessa Hudgens.

Not only is Netflix delivering original Christmas movies this year, but you can also look forward to series, episodes, specials and documentaries in the festive mix. The second season of “Sugar Rush Christmas” arrives in November and season three of “The Great British Baking Show: Holidays” will debut in December. There will also be a lot of fun for the youngsters in your family, such as: “Alien Xmas”, “A Go! Go! Cory Carson Christmas”, and “Angela’s Christmas Wish”.

From Executive Producer, Shonda Rimes, the “Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” documentary will debut in November, and coming in December, Netflix will take an in-depth look at two iconic Christmas movies with the special “The Holiday Movies That Made Us”.

The streaming giant will also add a few acquired films to its yuletide arrivals, including: “A New York Christmas Wedding”, “Christmas Break-In”, “Midnight at the Magnolia”, “A Christmas Catch”, “Hometown Holiday” and “A Very Country Christmas”.

Holidate

Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Bracey) hate the holidays. They constantly find themselves single, sitting at the kids table, or stuck with awkward dates. But when these two strangers meet one particularly bad Christmas, they make a pact to be each other’s “holidate” for every festive occasion throughout the next year. With a mutual disdain for the holidays, and assuring themselves that they have no romantic interest in the other, they make the perfect team. However, as a year of absurd celebrations come to an end, Sloane and Jackson find that sharing everything they hate may just prove to be something they unexpectedly love.

 

Operation Christmas Drop

Chasing a promotion, congressional aide Erica Miller (Graham) forgoes family Christmas to travel across the Pacific at her boss’s behest. Upon landing at a beachside Air Force base, she clashes with her guide, Captain Andrew Jantz (Ludwig), who knows her assignment is finding reasons to defund the facility. The pilot’s pet project—Operation: Christmas Drop, a genuine, decades-old tradition where gifts and supplies are parachuted to residents of remote neighboring islands—has lawmakers wondering if his unit has too much spare energy. Despite their initial opposing goals, Erica softens once she experiences the customs and communal spirit of Andrew’s adopted home.

 

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

From the imagination of writer-director David E. Talbert and featuring original songs by John Legend, Philip Lawrence, Davy Nathan, and “This Day” performed by Usher and Kiana Ledé, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey reminds us of the strength of family and the power of possibility.

 

The Princess Switch: Switched Again
