Alicia Keys has finally released a Christmas album, and we’re so excited about it! There should be no doubt that the singer and songwriter is a musical prodigy, and her soulful R&B songs have earned her fifteen-time Grammy Awards, but it has been a shock that we have never gotten a Christmas album over her two decade career—well, now we have!
For her first holiday collection, “Santa Baby,“ Keys has recorded reimagined classics like, of course, “Santa Baby,” “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” and the Peanuts favorite “Christmas Time Is Here”—plus a few originals, including “December Back 2 June,” “You Don’t Have To Be Alone,” “Old Memories On Christmas,” and “Not Even The King,” which was originally included on her 2012 album, “Girl On Fire.”
“I picked each song based on my all-time favorites and I wrote the new ones based on real holiday emotions and stories,” said Keys on her Instagram story.
Switchfoot has released their very first Christmas LP, and they will be hitting the road to celebrate the season with a holiday concert tour.
Jon Foreman, lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning band, was struck with the idea of writing a holiday album after seeking a Christmas album that reflected his own spirit of the season, and how he felt during the time of the year—it’s not always warm and cozy, but sometimes filled with heartache.
“For some of us, Christmas reminds us of loved ones we’ve lost, or complicated relationships with friends or family. For others of us, we question the capitalist materialism that saturates the holidays. For others, it’s a sacred time of giving, celebrating the divine gift of sacrificial love. I wanted a vinyl album that would accompany a Christmas gathering: the fires lit, the cider is warm, the friends and family are over. And the songs accompany the laughter and conversation. And then when everyone’s left, and I’m doing the dishes, I wanted an album with layers of lyrical depth and introspective leverage that would give me something to reflect upon after the party ends,” Foreman shared in an official press release.

Halloween just ended so, naturally, it’s time to get into the holiday spirit for most television networks—including TBS and TNT, who recently revealed their Winter Break holiday programming lineup—and this includes 24-hour marathons of beloved films, “Elf” starring Will Ferrell and the classic “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” immediately following Thanksgiving.
Although there isn’t too much variety, the schedule is filled with favorites, which is a good thing when you have a busy schedule and don’t want to miss a movie you traditionally watch each year—there’s a lot of opportunity to see them, including the above mentioned films plus “Fred Claus,” “The Polar Express,” “The Holiday,” “Four Christmases,” and more. “A Christmas Story” will once again have its cross-network 24-hour marathon on Christmas Eve as it has for the past few years.
